What is early gender-reveal DNA testing?

Early gender-reveal DNA testing allows you to learn the sex of your baby as early as six weeks into your pregnancy.

Previously, you had to wait until your ultrasound at 20 weeks to find out the sex of your baby. Or you had to get invasive tests like an amniocentesis that involves using a needle to take a sample of amniotic fluid from your womb. This fluid was sent to the lab to look for genetic abnormalities and also reveal the gender.

Early gender-reveal DNA testing works by using a small sample of your own blood to determine the sex of your baby. The test looks specifically for male chromosomes in your blood.

If you have male chromosomes in your blood sample, you’re having a boy. If your sample has no male chromosomes, you’re having a girl.
